that's to bad  man they do need to do something about the paint quality. I was washing my civic Friday and thought you know it maybe a slow reliable turd but the paint is great. Im actually able to get bugs off of it w/o it damaging the clear like on my wrx. it was eat up with bugs and even a claybar couldn't get them off completely.

What happened to the STI?

The paint was crap.  I realize that Subaru isn't known for its paint quality but the paint on my STI was defective.  My 04 WRX with 80,000+ miles looked better than my 08 STI with 15,000 miles.  SOA blamed me saying I must have followed a gravel truck too close or something which is not the case because I babied that car.  However, they were still willing to give me $1500 towards a repaint.  $1500 towards a repaint pretty much tells me they know they're at fault, they just didn't want to cover the entire paint job (which would have been around $8000) under warranty.  It's a well known fact that SOA has painted other 08 STIs (and 08 WRXs) under warranty but for some reason they didn't want to help me.

I was considering trading the car in for something more economical anyways so the paint problem just sealed the deal.  I was also worried about the engine tuning eventhough I had an AP plus the brakes roasted themselves the first time I took it to the track.  Overall I really enjoyed the STI but the usual Subaru quality just wasn't there.

I was actually looking for a Civic SI or Acura TSX as a replacement but couldn't get good trade-in on the STI due to the paint. Adventure gave me great trade-in on the STI even with the paint problems and sold me the 08 Legacy I have now.  If I have any issues with my 08 Legacy then Subaru has lost me as a customer.  Actually ,they are lucky they still have me.

i saw that white m3 yesterday by the mall...YOU SOLD YOUR STI...you'll miss it. I know i miss my car..and i saw it yesterday.  Sad

I think my STI is still for sale at Adventure.  I do miss the power but other than that the Legacy has been a great commuter car.  Very comfortable for sitting in the parking lot that is 540.  There's more to the story as to why I decided to get rid of the STI but basically it boils down to SOA sucking massively.  If it wasn't for Adventure I probably wouldn't still be driving a Subaru.

Also, for you BMW guys, I just got back from Spartanburg, SC on a work trip and stopped by the BMW manufacturing plant and museum while I was there.  I didn't have time to tour the plant but I have to go back in a few months and plan on doing it then.  Granted they only build the SUVs there it was still impressive.  The driving facility/test track had some gorgeous M3s sitting out front.

What's with you guys and old BMWs?   Tongue Grin
Actually looking through that thread makes me miss my '86 318.  That was a great car eventhough it took 2 days to get to 60mph.  There is a guy in Fayetteville that has a white E30 M3.  I drool every time I see it.

Anyways, most everyone knows I traded my STI in but I just got another Subaru.  A 08 Legacy 2.5.  So far it's a great commuter car and gets around 27 mpg on average.  Much better than the 19 mpg on premium the STI got.  My plan is to buy my new house hopefully in the next few months and then find a S2000.  Then I'll have my Legacy for everyday driving and the S2000 for a weekend fun car.
